Donna Hatch is the author of the best-selling “Rogue Hearts Series,” and a winner of writing awards such as The Golden Quill and the International Digital Award. A hopeless romantic and adventurer at heart, she discovered her writing passion at the tender age of 8 and has been listening to those voices ever since. She has become a sought-after workshop presenter, and also juggles freelance editing, multiple volunteer positions, and most of all, her six children (seven, counting her husband). A native of Arizona who recently transplanted to the Pacific Northwest, she and her husband of over twenty years are living proof that there really is a happily ever after.

When her parents and twin brother die within weeks of each other, Alicia and her younger sister are left in the hands of an uncle who has brought them all to financial and social ruin. Desperate to save her family from debtor's prison, Alicia vows to marry the first wealthy man to propose. She meets the dashing Lord Amesbury, and her heart whispers that this is the man she is destined to love, but his tainted past may forever stand in their way. Her choices in potential husbands narrow to either a scarred cripple with the heart of a poet, or a handsome rake with a deadly secret.

Cole Amesbury is tormented by his own ghosts, and believes he is beyond redemption, yet he cannot deny his attraction for the girl whose genuine goodness touches the heart he'd thought long dead. He fears the scars in his soul cut so deeply that he may never be able to offer Alicia a love that is true. When yet another bizarre mishap threatens her life, Alicia suspects the seemingly unrelated accidents that have plagued her loved ones are actually a killer's attempt to exterminate every member of her family. Despite the threat looming over her, learning to love the stranger she married may pose the greatest danger to her heart. And Cole must protect Alicia from the killer who has been exterminating her family before she is the next target.

This romantic story of loss and betrayal, forgiveness and redemption, and strangers marrying, will leave you laughing, crying, and swooning. Sprinkled liberally with suspense, mystery, and heart-melting kisses, this is not your ordinary historical tale of an arranged marriage nor of redeeming the rakes. Fans of Victorian and Regency Eras as well as those seeking clean and wholesome romance with plenty of chemistry, not to mention the redemptive power of love, will love this story!

Dance with a duke, outwit pirates, save a kingdom, and fall in love. Believe in happily ever after.

Snippet:

As Cole looked down into Alicia Palmer’s face, he knew of a surety she was worth any risk. She touched him in a place he’d thought long dead.
A younger man wearing a saucy grin approached Miss Palmer. “Did you save me a dance, Lissie?”
Cole’s initial irritation for the man’s cheekiness faded to puzzlement. He knew him from somewhere. A vague unease arose.
When the young man’s gaze moved to Cole, he paled visibly. “You!”
Miss Palmer gasped. “Robert Palmer, where are your manners?”
Of course. Robert Palmer. From London. Cold dread trickled  across  his  heart  as  he  considered  the ramifications.
Palmer pinned him with a dangerous glare. “Stay away from my cousin.”
“Your cousin?” Cole looked from him to the lovely Miss Palmer and understanding dawned. He cursed under his breath. He hadn’t been aware Armand Palmer had a sister. Not that he’d bothered to find out. The possible ramifications took a more serious turn.
Miss Palmer sent Cole a look of apology and turned to her cousin. “Robert, explain yourself.”
In a cold sweat, Cole waited for her condemning stare.
Palmer trembled in rage. He spoke quietly, but each word shot through Cole like bullets fired at close range. “He’s the scoundrel who shot your twin.”

Authors Favorite Things:

I love, love, love reading. The ability to store so many books on my iPad was like Christmas and reading magic rolled together.

Of course, my family is among my top favorite things. I love it when my kids are all home and we play games all day. Although, my eldest favorite game, Monopoly, is now a banned game. He so competitive!

This one is slightly odd, but I actually like planning and researching trips for either my husband and myself or for a girl’s trip.

Golfing with my girlfriends. I’ve tried the whole league thing and it’s not for me. But with just my friends..well we have a blast.

Babysitting the grandkids. I’m really getting into this “sure let me have them..spoiling them..them giving them back” thing.  hehehe

I’ve really gotten into doing jigsaw puzzles. Drives my husband nuts but there is always on in progress on our dining room table.

Starbucks Mocha with Almond Milk.  ‘nough said.

Linden Adair is a talented makeup artist on the New York Broadway show, Phantom of the Opera, creating the hideous scar for the actor who plays the phantom every night. But nobody knows the deep scars Linden carries after the divorce from her husband, Mark Denly—the famous director of Phantom.

Why didn’t somebody ever tell her that marrying your director was a bad idea, especially when he has a wandering eye?

Desperate to get away after enduring several years of heartache and scars, Linden takes a cross-country trip to visit her best friend in Seattle. While driving on a deserted stretch of highway late at night, she hits a deer and crashes the rental car into a gully outside of Snow Valley, Montana.

A devastatingly handsome stranger with a tow truck rescues Linden and her smashed vehicle, but when she catches sight of him in the light, she’s shocked. Anton Baldwin possess a terrible scar on his face—just like the phantom she created every night for the theater.

But Anton is hiding more than the truth behind his scar, and during a whirlwind week while being recruited for a television show being filmed in Snow Valley, the secrets of this enigmatic man turn her world upside down.

When Anton helps Linden open up to the world around her, Linden wonders if the small town of Snow Valley might hold the magic she needs to heal the scars on her broken heart.

Snippet:

When she hit Montana, she texted her best friend, Anne. Hey, only two more days until I’m at your front door! Not sure what I want to do first. The top of the Space Needle or a day at the ocean.

Anne texted back: Your first morning will be dropping my four-year-old Bethany at preschool, Baily at a sitter, then coffee with some friends I want you to meet. After that, we’ll take a drive along the ocean.
          Sounds great! Linden texted back.

Ten days suddenly sounded like a lot of time to intrude on Anne and her family. Maybe a long weekend would have been more realistic. Her husband was sure to privately complain, counting the days until Linden was gone.

Picking up her phone again, Linden texted: If I arrive a couple days later than originally scheduled, will that ruin your plans? I’m enjoying life on the road more than I thought.

Anne: Did an alien abduct the real Linden? No worries, I don’t have any specific plans. We can always get tickets for the ballet after you get here. I have a babysitter on call.

Linden sent off a smiley face to Anne, dropped her cell phone to the empty seat next to her, and lifted her eyes back to the road. At the same moment, an enormous shadow loomed across both lanes of the highway.

“Ah!” She screamed, jerking at the wheel, terrified she was about to hit someone.

There was a grinding noise as the car hit the rumble edge of the highway. A pair of antlers caught in her headlights and then a shadow leaped off to the left.

Linden tried to bring the car back onto the road, but she was going too fast, the jutted ridges of the highway making her car fish-tail uncontrollably. Before she could blink her eyes again, the car was jouncing down into a ravine while she banged her head against the ceiling of the vehicle.

Pumping the brakes didn’t help to stop the runaway car. She’d never felt so out of control in her life, waiting to land somewhere. A lake? Hanging off a cliff edge?

A moment later, the Nissan hit a bank of scrub brush and shuddered to a stop. Steam poured from the hood. Sounds of hissing came from the front end of the vehicle. Something was definitely damaged. Her rental car wasn’t going anywhere tonight. She was stuck in the middle of nowhere with a damaged car, no flashlight, and wild animals lurking just outside her windshield. She was so in trouble.
