Valentine Countdown Blitz - Day 1

Arabella Sheraton grew up on a diet of Jane Austen, the Bronte sisters, and many other writers of that period. From Jane Austen to Georgette Heyer, Arabella has found both enjoyment and inspiration in sparkling, witty Regency novels. She also loves history and generally finds the past more fascinating than the future. Arabella wrote her first Regency romance to entertain her aged mom who loved the genre. Arabella is honoured to share the adventures of her heroes and heroines with readers.

A witty traditional Regency romance that will captivate fans of the genre.

When Helena Wainwright accompanies her two young nieces and her nephew to stay at Rotherham Park with their new guardian who is their uncle, the Duke of Rotherham, she agrees to remain for six months to help the children adjust to their new life. She finds the handsome, charming Duke of Rotherham to be the most insufferable, self-opinionated, domineering and arrogant man she has ever met. Unhappily, the duke also holds an unflattering opinion of Helena. “Wayward was the only word to describe such a determined, contrary, and obstinate young woman who defied him at every turn regarding the upbringing of his wards. He would be very glad to see her go.”

The Duke of Rotherham is contemplating making Miss Emily Fanshawe, a beautiful, and (everyone thinks) well-bred young woman an offer of marriage. However, Emily has terrible secrets to hide, besides having a clandestine lover. Helena discovers Emily's secrets and does not know which way to turn. If she reveals the truth to protect the duke's social standing, she will betray Emily, with dire consequences. Besides, the duke seems determined to marry Emily, simply to prove a point, even though his godmother, Lady Mildred Ormsby has suspicions the Fanshawes are not who they say they are! Emily’s mother is hell-bent on marrying her daughter off to a rich, preferably titled, man. She will let nothing stand in her way, even stooping to abduction and possibly murder.

Can Helena win in the face of heavy odds and the machinations of a wicked schemer? And will she want the Duke of Rotherham for herself when hidden elements of his romantic past come to light?

He winked at Helena, his magnetism compelling. No wonder so many of London’s single ladies pursued him. When he set out to be charming, there were few who could resist. He looked remarkably handsome. The superb cut of his chocolate brown kerseymere coat indicated the hand of a master tailor; the points of his collar were just high enough to be fashionable, not
ridiculous, and his neckcloth was tied in the intricate Osbaldeston. The finish on his Hessians even had Marcus looking for his reflection in their surface. A striped waistcoat in cream and brown, biscuit-coloured pantaloons, gloves, and a cane completed his outfit.
“And I think Cousin Helena looks very fetching, as well.”
Helena demurred, although her best walking dress, in a rich honey colour with a double flounce around the hem and blond lace trim on the bodice and wrists, became her admirably. She draped a lovely Norwich silk shawl around her shoulders. A hat with a jaunty feather, tan kid gloves, and a matching reticule finished off her ensemble.
“I think she looks beautiful,” said Victoria. “Maybe some handsome man will decide to fall in love with her.”
Rotherham’s face darkened, and Helena hastily said, “How nonsensical we are all becoming today, and we haven’t even left the house. Is the carriage ready, Cousin Vernon?” She looked at him.
Rotherham said, “I thought we should go in the barouche.”

Valentine Countdown Blitz - Day 1

Kelly Nelson graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree. She worked in public accounting for four years before starting a horse-boarding business so she could be more involved in raising her family. As an avid book lover, she later decided to pursue a career in writing. Her published works include The Keeper’s Saga, a young adult fiction series, Love’s Deception, an LDS romance, and The Woman with No Name. Her newest novel was selected as a finalist in the romance category for the 2018 writing contest of the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association. She resides Cornelius, Oregon with her husband, four children, and a herd of horses.

Losing her memory might lead to finding happily ever after.

Sworn bachelor Colton Murdock gets more than he bargained for on the elk hunt when he finds an injured woman in Utah’s high country. She must have a history, but she wakes up to towering pines and the clap of a thunderstorm with no recollection of her name or how she came to be there. Colt brings her to the safety of his camp, trying to ignore the first stirrings of his heart since the tragic death of his fiancée six years ago.

The young woman can’t help falling for her ruggedly handsome rescuer, who calls her Skye for her blue eyes. But her life goes into a tailspin when she is recognized as Lily Vanasche, fiancée of a popular TV news anchorman, and Colt is arrested for a series of crimes—including her abduction. After the real kidnapper leaves a death threat in Lily’s ransacked house, the clock starts ticking. Can she remember her past before it catches up with her?

Top Ten List:

·         I lived in a pole barn style shop with no flush toilets while we built our new house. So basically, I lived 9 months in a port-a-potty. I’m thinking about writing a book about that one. Might be my first non-fiction—titled Nine Months in a Port-a-potty.
·         The most amazing place I have visited is Egypt. So much ancient history buried near the sands of the Sahara.
·         A little wager on whether I could hit a quarter with a 22-rifle triggered my first kiss. To this day I still have the deformed quarter as proof.
·         My YA books have been in Portland area Costco stores six different times
·         The most books I have ever sold at a single book signing is 96—that is a lot of signatures. By the time I finished I was dropping an l from Kelly and Nelson had deteriorated to a squiggly line. My signature has never quite recovered.
·         I tried to go through customs in the Caribbean wearing camo shorts. Evidently on that island it is against the law for anyone other than military to wear camo. The officer was so stern, I thought he would make me strip down right there in the line.
·         I love rodeos. I always dreamed of being a rodeo queen, but never had the opportunity.
·         Once I rode a horse through the canyons to the temple where they filmed the final scenes of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade to The Treasury or Al Khazneh in Petra, Jordan.
·         Until last year when my favorite horse passed away, I had known her longer than I knew my husband. He says now that she is gone, he can finally take the top spot.

·         While I worked as a licensed CPA and my college degree was in accounting, my passion is creative writing.

"If I'm gonna make this video with you, it has to feel more natural to me." Which turned out to be footage of them—what else?—baking cookies together in Penny’s apartment. Her small kitchen was actually perfect for the occasion.

He had to squeeze behind her to pull the butter out of the fridge. She had to reach over him for the sugar. When their arms got tangled up with each other, Preston forgot all about the state of Penny’s kitchen. Allie had already set up Penny’s kitchen so that it had proper lighting and she held her Canon video camera was at the ready. "Oh, that's great!"

"You know," Preston whispered in Penny's ear, enjoying the feel of the soft skin along her lobe against his lips as he held her in his arms, "if I didn't feel like a fish in a fishbowl right now, I'd be tempted to kiss you."

Penny's eyes widened as she turned her head to meet his gaze more fully. Now what had possessed him to admit that? A tiny, almost secretive smile formed on those luscious lips, and she said so quietly that only he could hear, "You know you can always pretend she's not here, right?"
