He turned the spigot to stop the flow then helped her into the tub.

"You are never to climb in or out of the bathtub unless Daddy is here to assist you."

"May I take a shower?"

"No. Little girls only take baths. Should you disobey me in this, you will be spanked. Understand?"

Unfortunately, she was starting to get the picture. "Yes… Daddy."

He nodded. "Good girl. I expect you will slip up from time to time, and I will correct you if you make a mistake. Using the wrong honorific isn't punishable as long as you use either of the two I've allowed you."

Kelly was beginning to think she'd never remember all these rules when her daddy started to bathe her. Actually, what he did was closer to scrubbing than washing. At one point, after he'd slipped the soapy washcloth between her legs, he scoured her with a touch more force, until it burned.

"Oww, Daddy! That hurts, please don't."

She thought he'd apologize, but he scowled at her instead. "You were a very dirty little girl, Kelly. I regret the need for Daddy to rub your tender flesh so harshly, but you can't go to bed with the filth of the street still on you, so I must be unusually rough."

That scared her a little, so she tensed her thighs against him. She totally didn't expect him to pull her halfway out of the tub and spank her when she did.

"I warned you never to close off any part of your body to your daddy. Do that again, and Daddy will be forced to take a paddle to your bottom."

Surprised and hurting, Kelly found herself whimpering in protest. She never cried, not since the night her parents were murdered, but her eyes grew unexpectedly damp as she wailed like the child he wanted her to be. "I'm sorry, Daddy. I won't do it again. He gave her three more hard swats before he eased her back into the bath. Kelly cried out again as the heated water and soap suds burned her very sore bottom. "Ow. Oww. It hurts, Daddy," she pleaded, struggling to get up, but he held her in place with a frown.

Tears still streamed down her cheeks as she gazed at him. But the moment she stopped resisting, he released her, crouched at the side of the tub, and simply glowered at her.

"What do you say to me," he asked sternly.

"I'm sorry, Daddy," she whimpered, but he shook his head. That wasn't what he wanted or expected from her. She tried to think, but her bottom hurt, and she couldn't remember what he'd told her.

He touched her chin. "Look at me, Kelly." She didn't hesitate to obey him this time, though her lower lip quivered in response to his scowl. Then, he surprised her once again, this time by giving her a warm smile.

"Is Daddy's little girl really sore?" he asked, his voice soft and gentle.

Unnerved by the sudden change, Kelly sniffed and nodded.

"Is Kelly sorry for what she did that made it necessary for Daddy to punish her?"

"Yes, Daddy," she parroted back, beginning to understand.

"Is Kelly grateful her daddy takes such excellent care of her that he punishes her when she's been bad, even though it hurts him to do so?"

Another nod. "Yes, Daddy."

"What do little girls say when they are grateful?"

Now she realized exactly what he wanted. He'd punished her, and he expected her to express appreciation for his attention. "Thank you, Daddy."

Though Kelly was fully prepared to drop onto her knees and beg forgiveness, she gazed up at him and pleaded with her eyes. Receiving a higher-arched eyebrow in return, she decided her best defense was to try to make him laugh. If he wasn't truly angry with her, then maybe he'd forgive this one little slip. "I'm sorry," she started, and it wasn't a lie, she did feel bad, but— "It was the sensation of your soap sliding so smoothly over my body, the smell of your shampoo as it caressed and cleaned my hair with tiny scrubbing bubbles." Noticing the corner of his mouth twitch as he struggled to maintain his stern expression, she went on recalling what it was about him that made her want to melt. "The scent of your masculine cologne as tiny tendrils—"

"I don't wear cologne," he interrupted firmly.

She opened her eyes wide. "That maddening scent of yours is totally natural, totally you?" She leaned in closer to him. "I so badly want to touch—"

He cut her off. "I believe you've touched quite enough for one morning, young lady." She'd been about to protest, but his warm, lean fingers wrapping around her upper arm distracted her. "You're coming with me," he added, escorting her to the living room.

With a swallow of unease, she followed his lead without protest. He still considered her to be needing aftercare, so he wouldn't do anything really bad or painful to her. Would he? She gave a small sigh of relief when he rounded the corner into his small kitchen and escorted her over to the table where he pulled out a chair for her. "Sit down and eat," he commanded in full Dom mode.

Kelly noticed then that he'd laid out the table with coffee, juice, pancakes, three different types of syrup, bacon, potatoes, toast and fluffy-looking scrambled eggs, and she was absolutely amazed. She thought she'd smelled bacon and potatoes cooking but put it down to her imagination, certain he'd never go to that much trouble for her.

"You did this? For me?" she asked, a little giddy at his thoughtfulness. Yesterday, her breakfast had been much lighter. A small bowl of oatmeal, two pieces of toast, orange juice and only one cup of coffee. He worried about giving her a stimulant when she was in pain.

He answered her last question by pointing to her seat.

"Thank you, Sir," she said sweetly. Taking a risk, she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek before she started to sit, then stopped. The chair he held out for her had a wooden seat that looked awfully hard.

When she glanced up, he replied to her unspoken question. "I decided, since you were feelin' so much better, you could sit at the table with me today. I had thought to get you a nice, fluffy pillow to sit on, but then I heard you in the bathroom and realized, from your activities, you were clearly not suffering any true discomfort. So, I decided to dispense with the pillow, after all. Have a seat, my lady," he finished, pointing back to the hard and uncomfortable-looking chair he offered her.

She winced. "I'm being punished, aren't I?"

He gazed back at her, his expression deadly serious. "What do you think?"

She hesitated, then answered with a tentative smile. "That I would like a pillow, pretty please with sugar and whipped cream with cherries on top?"

After choking back a laugh, he scowled down and tapped her nose. "Yeah? Think you're real cute, don't ya? I should make you sit on this hard, wooden chair for the next hour or so to show you what I think, except I suspect you won't eat if I do that, and I went to too much trouble to waste all this food. So, my pretty, you'll get a temporary reprieve this morning. You were a naughty girl to do what you did, and you will be punished for it later. I promise." Then, after giving her a kiss, which pressed her lips hard against her teeth, he left the room. Returning with the large fluffy pillow he'd chided her with, he placed it on her chair and pointed back to her seat.

"Thank you, Sir. You are much too kind to me," she murmured, looking up at him through lowered lashes.

He gripped her arm with a snort. "You got that right." Then with a firm hold, he supported her as she slowly sank down to the pillow.
