Scarlett Anderson to the outside world appears to be a regular bike courier, but in reality she is a protector of mankind. She has lived a lone existence since she lost everything on her 18th birthday but when she meets Detective Gage Williams everything changes. Scarlett cannot resist him or what is making her want to be with him. Everywhere around her is danger, she can't let herself fall for Gage but she can't resist him either.
This book was more than just a romance to me, it touched my very soul in a way that I will never forget. The true meaning that lays within these pages is one for the ages. I loved how Melissa pulled me in and touched me in this way. Normally I read romance books and they touch my heart. This book touched the very essence of who I am and what I believe. In this world everyone needs someone and no one should go at it alone. This story shows us that to be true and the true will of God. I highly recommend this book and I wish I could give it more than five stars. Amazing read.

A seed of doubt. A blind devotion. A soul divided.
Dylan McBride is desperate to protect his wife and child from The Fallen. He'll stop at nothing to keep them safe, even if it means killing his father. With a devastating secret on the verge of destroying his life with Heaven, Dylan hides the truth from his soulmate. His deceit isn't the only threat to his relationship. So is the growing connection between Heaven and her Keeper.
Layne is gaining strength, increasing the powerful fire within him. The more time he and Heaven share, the easier it is to control his Keeper abilities. Harnessing his emotions is a different story. As if the affinity bond didn't intensify the link between them, an emerging secret forces him to face the truth. He's in Heaven's life for more than her protection.
Among the death threats and birth of her child, Heaven struggles to keep peace between her soulmate and Keeper. Dylan's behavior grows darker by the day, but the bond between her and Layne deepens. He's willing to sacrifice his life for her. Yet a turn of events has her risking everything for him. When more lies are exposed, she'll be left with one choice—deny the truth or surrender to her heart's desire.
What the Heart Desires is the fourth installment in the Soulmate Series. If you like tantalizing romances with suspense, soulmates, and supernatural twists, you’ll love Kelli McCracken’s compelling take on love, fate, and destiny.

5 Star Review
After reading What the Heart Takes, Book Three in the Soulmate Series, I honestly didn’t think that Kelli could make these books any better. That book just amazed me. Well, color me wrong. Kelli blew my mind with this book. Amazing, Incredible and simply Fantastic. I cannot begin to tell you how much I truly loved this book to give it justice.
This book starts where What the Heart Takes left off. In this book there is so much happening with not only our main three characters of Layne, Heaven and Dylan. But we are introduced to new and old characters a like.
We learn more of Heaven and Layne’s true connection and not what they have been led to believe. Hope and Faith reveal and are given revelations that we didn’t know before. The road is not easy for any of our favorite characters. Let’s not forget that Heaven is about ready to give birth to her and Dylan’s first child.
Many twists and turns keep you engrossed and enthralled in this world that Kelli has created for us. She pulls us in once again and we better buckle up because the road ahead is full of shocks, surprises, and she lights us on fire with the heat and passion between her characters.
This is one book I will definitely read over and over again and order the hard copy of it to put in my library permanently along with the rest of this series. I hope Kelli never ends this series as the characters have become part of my family. A true Author is able to pull you in and weave their story around you and make it part of you. Kelli is one of those Authors.
I rate this book highly and unfortunately I can only give it five starts because if I could I would give it more and more. This is a book that needs to be added to your TBR list immediately. If you haven’t read the books in the series then please read them and enjoy this series as I have. I can’t wait to see where Kelli takes us next I know one thing for sure What my Heart Desires is more Soulmate Series and Kelli McCracken.

In a dystopian future where humans have foolishly squandered Earth’s natural resources, the few remaining people are becoming desperate. Crowded in huge underground cities, they’ve finally come to the end of the line and they must decide whether or not they will trade the only valuable resource Earth has left... Women.
Being the daughter of a wealthy diplomat, Rose is blissfully ignorant of how the less fortunate live. Desperate to escape to a planet where she can enjoy the sun on her face and swim in clear unpolluted oceans, she vows to make herself the first bride to be mated to off-worlders.
When the Krylon delegation arrives, she realizes that in addition to being good stewards of their planet, eager for female companionship, and polite to a fault, the Krylon males are also drop dead gorgeous. Unfortunately, Earth’s population is vehemently opposed to the galactic mate’s treaty... will Rose and her soon to be Hot Alien Husband be able to make their escape from Earth?
Excerpt 1
“Barbarians. You were locked away this whole time? How could they…” Turning to gather up a small throw, he made a frustrated trilling noise. “It does not matter. You are here, safe, and from this moment forward, you are mine.”
Excerpt 2
“Do you mind if I ask about the pressing of lips together. What is this? Why is it important?”
Rose bit her bottom lip, holding back another grin. He was learning to read her facial expressions.
“Would you like me to show you?”
Speechless, he nodded.
Turning to her friend, she pressed her lips to the other woman’s forehead. “This is the gesture for showing affection to children.”
“It is unusual.”
Rose pressed her lips to her friend’s cheek. “This is a traditional kiss for close friends, particularly when we have been separated from one another.”
Before he could speak, her friend pulled her close and pressed her lips against Rose’s lips quickly before pulling back. She made a small happy sound and smiled mischievously. “That is the one that shows romantic interest on our world.”
Rose laughed. “She’s being naughty. Most of us don’t kiss other women that way.”
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
As a mother of 16 cats and 1 very kooky dog, I am a writer with an incredible support team! As you can imagine, living with my fur family on 5 acres in rural southwest Washington there is never a dull moment. I enjoy taking the scenery, the wildlife, the weather, the adventures and turning them into my literary expose. Each element of my life is lived out in my romantic fiction.
I believe in each writer there is a fantasy thrashing it’s way out in every life circumstance. Releasing that inner animal is what I live my life for. It goes without saying that there's always a happily-ever-after for my characters, even if there are a few road bumps along the way.
I thank you for joining me in this incredible journey of fun and love during it’s most adventure seeking antics.
Enjoy and feel free to contact me by email/facebook/instagram anytime. I enjoy hearing from my friends in the book world and will look forward to hearing from you too!

I may be the villain of the story, but at least I get a leading role.
Evil is a term thrown around history and literature as if it's something so easily definable. A concept to fight against.
Evil doesn’t exist.
Neither does ‘good.’
Vampires do, though.
I just happen to be one.
I’ve cruised through the centuries managing to avoid all the wars, supernatural and human, but still going to all the best parties.
I would say I avoided bloodshed, but it’s kind of part of the whole ‘vampire’ thing.
I’ve lived on the fringes of a society that considered cruelty and sadism favorable character traits for almost five hundred years. Now I'm in the middle of a war that might just put my nonbeating heart in a lot of danger.
Battles, I can handle.
The impossible attraction between me and the vampire slayer, not to mention the penetrating gaze of the king of our race, on the other hand?
I might not get out undead.

“Right. Remind me to ask about that later. I’m gonna go try to talk to Barb,” I said as I practically leaped from the chair and bounded up the first and second flight of wooden stairs.
“Good luck,” Jaxon muttered on my way out.
I was going to need all the luck I could get.
Once I reached the master bedroom on the third floor, I looked across the room at the closed white door leading to the bathroom. My heavy boots betrayed my attempt at being quiet. As I stilled, I could hear a low, deep growl coming from the other side of the door.
Fuck. He was in there with her.
“Who’s out there?” She asked through the wooden door.
“Babe, it’s me,” I replied and the growling got a little louder.
“I told Lei I didn’t want to see you. Leave. Me. Alone.”
“You know I’m not gonna do that. I’ve waited almost two years to see you. Hold you. Feel your hair between my fingers. I need you to at least let me try to explain. Please, baby.” Yeah, I was groveling. I would have gotten down on my knees and kissed her feet if that’s what it took. Anything for a chance.
“Leave Cole. There’s nothing you could say to me right now that’ll make me change my mind,” she sobbed and the rift in my chest widened a little more.
“Please, Barbara. I’ll stay out here and explain. You don’t have to see me, just give me a chance. I didn’t have a choice. I was under orders.”
“No, you’re not listening. You don’t get a chance to explain why you left me, or a chance to explain why you allowed me to think that you were dead. You don’t get a fucking chance to tell me why you let me grieve you for a year and eight months. Fuck you, Cole. You don’t get a chance. Now leave me the fuck alone or so help me God, I’ll open this damn door and let the dog out.” The fire in her voice shot straight to my cock. Fuck me, she was hot when she was pissed.
I was quiet for minute and waited for her anger to fade. My girl would get mad fast then soften a little. I knew she was trying to cover.
Even though I couldn’t see the hurt, I could hear it. Her cries and gasps for air damn near killed me. Maybe she did need more time than I was willing to give her.
“I know you’re still there, Cole. Please,” she sniffled as her breath hitched, “please just leave. I can’t deal with you right now.”
Her words were like a sharpened Ka-Bar to the heart. They opened me up and drained every drop of blood coursing through my veins.
In all of my preparation for this day, I never imagined it would be this awful.
She fucking hated me.

“Daddy!”
Four-year-old Gemma’s plaintive cry split the night. Ryder squinted at the glowing numbers on the digital clock next to his bed. Three a.m. Shit. Nothing good ever happened at this hour of the night, or morning, if he wanted to get technical. Maybe it was a bad dream, even though Gemma rarely woke up at night anymore.
He settled down beneath the warmth of the comforter, preparing to fall back asleep. Jason moved closer to him, and Ryder slid his foot down Jason’s calf, relishing the scrape of his hairy leg. As long as he was up, it shouldn’t be a total loss. Ryder kissed Jason’s naked shoulder and licked up his strong neck, the steady pulse of life quickening beneath his lips. Jason’s sighs spurred him on, and Ryder smiled to himself, unsure whether his husband was fully awake, but that didn’t stop him from palming Jason’s ass and giving it a hard squeeze.
“Daddy, please. Come.”
Damn. No use. Fully awake now, Ryder slid out of bed, immediately missing Jason’s solid heat. Longingly he gazed back down at him splayed out in the center of the bed and shook his head with dismay. The man worked too damn hard. Jason had collapsed after they put Gemma to sleep the night before, barely able to stifle his yawns long enough to eat dinner. Mallory Brothers Construction had taken off in the past few years, and though Jason and Liam had hired several other architects and construction engineers to help alleviate the load of work they took on, Jason still tried to be as hands-on as possible. He and Ryder had numerous discussions about his long hours and how they kept him from being home with Gemma, but Jason insisted his presence was necessary, and Ryder backed off, unwilling to argue about it.
The past few weeks, Ryder tried to push dinner later and later, but Gemma had fallen asleep at the dinner table too many times for that to remain feasible. He loved the quiet times at night when they’d sit together and he’d read her a bedtime story, but Ryder missed having Jason beside him, sharing those special moments. The last thing Ryder wanted was for Jason to work so hard he missed Gemma’s childhood; his own father had missed his and Landon’s childhoods by burying himself in his work. Ryder wouldn’t allow Jason to do that, but he had to find a way to tell Jason without him getting upset.
“What’s wrong?” Jason mumbled, his face buried in the pillow. “I had a dream someone was copping a feel.” He turned his cheek on the pillow and mustered a tired smile. “Thought I was gonna get lucky.”
“You were about to, but Gemma woke up before I could make your dreams come true. Go back to sleep, babe.” Ryder leaned down to kiss Jason’s stubble-rough cheek. “She probably had a bad dream.”
“Mmm. Well, hurry back. I was dreaming of the beach, and you were my hot cabana boy.” He wiggled his ass. “I’m ready for my massage.”

I have always been a romantic at heart. I believe that while life is tough, there is always a happy ending around the corner, my characters have to work for it, however. Like life in NYC, nothing comes easy and that includes love.
I live in New York City with my husband and two children and hopefully soon a cat of my own. My day begins with a lot of caffeine and ends with a glass or two of red wine. I practice law but daydream of a time when I can sit by a beach somewhere and write beautiful stories of men falling in love. Although there is bound to be a few bumps along the way, a Happily Ever After is always guaranteed.

THEO
There's an eerie calm before the storm,
And my best friend is in the direct path of the hit.
I have to protect him, no matter the cost.
He's like a brother to me.
I'll do whatever it takes to make sure he's safe.
Even if that means being pulled into the vortex that is Jules Hemingway,
A sexy, fiery tempest that has the potential to destroy everything in her wake.
All I want is to dive in, take my chances.
But first, I must complete the mission—save my friend.
Though it may mean losing what really matters,
The only woman worth drowning for.
JULES
Something's amiss—strange and ominous,
And I can't quite put my finger on it.
When Theo Katawhateverhisnameis comes thundering in,
It's like lightning to my heart, my body, my soul.
It's a shock—a jolt, as I realize my life is a scam,
A scheme with no winners.
I'm in over my head, treading in a sea of lies,
Leery of whom to trust,
Only looking to protect myself, my heart.
Together, we're wreckage, debris,
but are we collateral damage in this perfect storm?
"Passionate. Angsty. Mind-blowing. A masterful tale of intrigue, lust, and jaw-dropping sex...Yep. It's one of my hottest reads this year." -Ilsa Madden-Mills, Wall Street Journal Best-Selling Author
Swiping my face with my shirt, it’s hard to ignore the searing gazes of the girls in the gym that roam to the exposed skin of my ripped abs. A small sideways smirk quirks at the corners of my lips as I duck my head down, heat rushing to my cheeks. I work damn hard for this body, and I love when someone appreciates it. I nod at Rockin’ Red, who’s licking her pouty lips like I’m a fine piece of meat she’s hoping to slowly devour. She probably has a better chance with Charlie, unfortunately for her. Of course, there’s a lot more of him to consume. The thought causes me to chortle.
Making my way to the locker room, I swing the door open. “I’m meeting Jules tomorrow night. You can have your guy do it—” They glance in the mirror at me.
I nod. “‘Sup?”
“What’s happenin’?” Their jaws tick. It may have been posed as a question, but it was definitely a statement.
“I heard you overtalkin’ out there. You know I was engaged once. Never again. I say, get as much ass as you can while you can, man.”
Charlie’s eyes narrow at me as he sizes me up, but he’s more than six inches shorter than me. “It’s not nice to eavesdrop.”
“Didn’t mean to. Normally, I have my iPod with me, but I forgot it. And, if it was a secret, maybe you shouldn’t be talking so loudly I could hear you two machines over. But anyway, I’m not here to socialize.” I glance down at my pecs and abs as I pull my shirt over my head. “In case you can’t tell.”
“Right.” He laughs. “And as for my fiancée. If you saw her, you’d understand why I wanted the best of both fucking worlds, man. Have a nice night.” Charlie pats Tattoo Guy on the back. “Let’s get outta here, Angelo.” Ah. Charlie looks back over his shoulder. “Sorry, I didn’t catch your name. I’m Charlie Hawke.”
I didn’t miss that he didn’t extend his hand to me, so I push mine out toward him. “Theo. Theo KataigÃda.”
“Greek, huh?”
I nod, smiling. “You got it."
He never takes my hand. They both just give me a look that screams ‘go fuck yourself’ before walking out. Yeah. The feeling is fucking mutual fuckers.
J.B. McGee is a mother, wife, and the Amazon Top 100 author of the best-selling This Series. Amazon Crossing acquired the German rights to her debut novel, Broken. Heartfall, her coming of age novel about a bullied ballerina, is a #1 best seller in the Teen and Young Adult Performing Arts genre. Skipping Stones, a military romance about a young woman strongly influenced by her faith and her family all the while searching for her true love, is a #1 best seller in Women's Christian Fiction.
When J.B.'s not writing, she enjoys reading as well as watching and live-chatting her favorite television shows with her friends. Her favorite shows are Quantico, Blindspot, Grey’s Anatomy, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, Below Deck, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Scandal (mainly because of her love of Scott Foley).
Born and raised in Aiken, South Carolina, she attended Converse College and eventually earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from The University of South Carolina-Aiken in 2006.
In college, she was told by her children’s literature professor she would be the one student from her class to be an author. McGee shook her head and laughed. But in 2012, over six years after that statement was made and after a love of reading had been reignited, she gave writing a shot. J.B. gladly ate crow when she emailed her first book to the above mentioned children’s literature professor thanking her and acknowledging the accuracy of her prophecy.
In 2011, it was discovered that not only do both of her children, but also she and her husband, have mitochondrial disease. Affecting 1 in 2500 people, it has no cure or treatments. Being a writer allows J.B. to care for her family’s unique needs while also providing a platform for raising awareness for this disease.
She is a hopeless romantic who loves to escape into fairy tales—some she reads and some she creates.
J.B. McGee and her family now reside in Buford, Georgia.
