TWO YEARS!
Two whole years since Amelie and I have gotten to see each other. Video chatting and writing to each other just isn’t doing it anymore. Not being able to hold her in my arms or look her in the eyes as I tell her how much I love her has been hard on both of us.
I have to admit that I am also worried that she will look at me differently when I get back home. I’m no longer that naive boy she fell in love with back in high school.
Will she still be able to see the good in me after all the hell I’ve been through?
Lance Corporal Grant Landry, USMC Scout Sniper, reporting for duty.
***
Two weeks until Grant is finally back home. I am so proud of the man that he has become, but I have changed since the last time he was home.
I went through a party phase in our final year of high school, but that got old quickly.
I went away to college and came home with a teaching degree. My students are the world to me. Each child is so unique in their own way. My little sister is autistic, which led me to decide that I want to work with special needs children.
Will he be able to handle my schedule?
Does he still love me after all this time?
My name is Amelie Walsh, and I can’t wait to wrap my arms around my man.

Leah Negron has been an avid reader from a very young age. She has an insatiable need to read the written word, devouring as many books as possible. Leah has been a promoter for authors for about sixteen years. She shares their work, enters them in contests, and tells everyone who will listen about their books. She started writing her own poetry in late 2016. Sharing one poem with an author friend lead her to write more. Fine-tuning her craft, she is now in several poetry and short story anthologies. Leah has published a few books of her own and continues to write. She has been asked to be a part of several more anthologies. This has gotten her recognition not only as a poet but as a storyteller as well. In her spare time, she is an animal advocate and volunteers with a local shelter. She helps with TNR, adoptions and is a foster to fur babies. Leah is a happily married woman and has been with her spouse for 24 years.
